RESTORATION Video Dance Project
Restoration Trailer
RESTORATION Dance video. The QuarryLifeAward is a grant issued by Heidelberg cement every 3 years for projects promoting awareness of the environmental value of quarries and share new best practices.
In 2021 I applied and received an award to film a dance video in a quarry. This film will show the transition a quarry undergoes as it finishes excavation and is returned to nature.
Excavation phase
The Outfits
For Delphina, I crafted this dress to represent the excavation stage. The material has a pink marble finish. The dress does provide some limitations to movement but the dancers will work within those limits to convey the atmosphere.
The Outfits
For Arno, I made this marble inspired top. This will be worn with black linen trousers and black sneakers. This was designed with Motorcross armor in mind.
Nature Phase
The Outfits
Here is Arno’s Top for the nature transition phases of the video. The material is birch wood bark mounted on a white rubber vest. Arno will wear this with cream/white linen trousers and white sneakers.

Arriving at the Quarry
28 June, 2022
The dancers and filmmaker arrived at Schleklingen quarry and began exploring the landscape. There are many interesting sites and differing backdrops to choose from. First they need to find a suitable landscape for the excavation interaction, then something graphic for the abstract opening. The plan is to film those sections first and the transition and nature the following days.
